I have worked in broadcasting since 1973. I have extensive experience in planning, design, construction, and the operations of all facets of a television station. I am currently responsible for all technology at Iowa PBS including RF transmission facilities, and studio origination facilities throughout the State of Iowa. I am active in future broadcast planning on the national level and serve on a number of committees developing standards for emerging technologies for ATSC, SMPTE and IEEE.I am a Fellow of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers and currently serve as the Central Region Governor. I am a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers one of the founding members of the ATSC and I have served four terms as president of the IEEE Broadcast Technology Society. I am a member of the committee that started the Future of Broadcast Television (FoBTV) initiative in Shanghai, China and continue to represent the BTS on that committee. For my efforts in education the broadcast industry about DTV through the Iowa DTV Symposium for 10 year I was recognized by the SBE as the 2007 Educator of the Year. I am an active and passionate advocate for broadcasting services.
